Message
from the Chair
Hello
-
I'm afraid this is quite the belated introduction - my
name is Carole Mars, and I'm the chair of the Arizona
Solar Energy Association this year. I work for a group
called the Sustainability Consortium, a public-private
partnership in the Global Institute of Sustainability
at ASU. We are looking at the issues surrounding effective
communication of sustainability issues to consumers in
a retail setting.
Understanding
how to live with and within one's environment is my passion
and my livelihood. In Arizona, learning to live in one's
environment means learning to live with the sun and thrive.
Ironically,
when I came in as chair, one of my primary goals for this
year is to improve communication - what ASEA is doing,
what others are doing and what's happening in the solar
energy arena around our state. Without effective communication
to our members, no amount of activity could make ASEA
successful. We have lots of great events coming up, too
- lectures for your education, members events designed
to give you an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts
and public outreach events at expos and other forums where
you can share your passion. Activities will happen in
all three regions, and will be announced in this letter,
as well as posted on the ASEA website.
Our
first state-wide event for this year is the ASEA Solar
Home Tour month this October. Planned in conjunction with
the American Solar Energy Society Solar Home Tour weekend,
homeowners open their homes to those interested in learning
more about solar and other sustainable building features.
Homes are open in different cities each weekend of the
month, so there is always somewhere you can see what your
fellow solar enthusiasts are up to.
So
- this letter is the beginning of my new communication
efforts. My goal is to be in touch twice a month, with
news and happenings from around the state, highlights
from different activities from our different regions and
information on upcoming events and save the date notices.
Communication is two-way, though - please feel free to
contact me through the ASEA website, and let me know what
you want from your ASEA!
Looking
forward to keeping in touch!
